United Nations Foundation
When The United Nations Foundation was first formed in 1998, they looked to NGEN to provide a scalable networking solution that would afford the organization ample room for growth.
The United Nations Foundation is an excellent case study for two reasons:
Growth Management - NGEN successfully orchestrated a growth management strategy for The United Nations Foundation Network that grew from 5 to over 100 users within a relatively short time span. This growth, paired with a very complex array of software and hardware systems spread over several geographical locations, required the professional guidance of NGEN's industry expert network architects.
Collaboration with In-House IT Staff – NGEN engineers work together with existing Foundation IT staff to provide all back end support while the existing in-house staff tended to personnel issues on the the front end of the network. NGEN successfully fills the personnel gap within The United Nations Foundation staff; keeping outsourcing costs low, and enabling the organization to provide continuous user support during all working hours.
In 2003, The Foundation looked to NGEN to coordinate all technical and connectivity related issues during their office relocation. NGEN Relocation Services assure 100% operational ability on the first day of business at a new location. NGEN's seasoned staff of experts coordinated the voice and data cabling, Internet access, telecom services and relocation of existing computer network and office telephone systems.
In concert with their office move, NGEN helped The United Nations Foundation design a state-of-the-art conference room encompassing: video conferencing technology, "smart" boards, projectors, standard AV equipment, Internet connectivity and wireless networking. In addition to the implementation of this technology in the new conference room, NGEN wrote request for proposals for the required services and managed all external vendors on the project.
After managing a successful move, NGEN’s ServerSentry Automated Network–Health Monitoring system proactively and continuously monitors The United Nations Foundation system for both system-health and security concerns. If any problems are discovered using our automated systems, notifications are distributed to NGEN’s support team along with the internal United Nations Foundation IT staff and issues are dealt with before they become problems.
